• The central concept of Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is that the entire game world exists inside the pages of a talking encyclopaedia named Mr. E. Mr. E falls from the sky onto the island where the Yoshis live — arriving just as Bowser Jr. sets off to find a miraculous bird he spotted within the book's pages. Mr. E's pages are full of unusual creatures that he has forgotten, so he invites Yoshi to dive in, explore, and help fill the book back up with discoveries. Each page of Mr. E is a self-contained colorful habitat with its own set of creatures, environment rules, and exploration opportunities. The book format structures the game into chapters — each chapter is a new set of pages with new creatures and new environments to explore. 

• The core gameplay loop in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book revolves around discovering the characteristics of the creatures inside Mr. E. You do not simply find a creature and check it off a list — you interact with it using Yoshi's full range of actions to reveal what it does. Eat a creature and Yoshi produces a specific type of egg. Jump on it and it might cause flowers to bloom. Carry it on Yoshi's back and it could start blowing bubbles or reacting in an entirely different way. Each creature has multiple characteristics to uncover, and finding all of them requires trying every interaction. The discovery system rewards experimentation — the more you try, the more the book's entries fill in, and the more chapters unlock.

• Yoshi and the Mysterious Book uses Yoshi's signature moveset — eating, egg-throwing, jumping, and carrying — as the primary tools for both exploration and creature interaction. Eating a creature captures it and produces an egg that can be thrown at targets to uncover new mysteries or provoke reactions from other creatures nearby. Carrying a creature on Yoshi's back changes how that creature interacts with the environment, revealing characteristics that are impossible to discover any other way. The egg-throw mechanic, familiar from the entire Yoshi series, is used here not just as a combat tool but as a research instrument — you throw eggs at creatures and at environmental objects to see what reactions occur and what new areas or information they unlock. 

• The game includes a token currency system that ties exploration, hints, and amiibo support together. Tokens are scattered throughout each area of Mr. E's pages and are collected during normal exploration. You spend tokens at hint stations to get specific guidance on where to focus your efforts next — useful when you have interacted with most of a habitat but cannot find the last remaining creature characteristic. amiibo support adds a daily token bonus — tap a compatible amiibo figure once per day and Mr. E reads your fortune, awarding you tokens based on the result. Different amiibo figures produce different fortune readings. The tokens earned from the daily amiibo reading stack on top of in-game token collection, giving you more hints to spend over time. 

• Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is developed by Good-Feel — the studio that made Yoshi's Woolly World (2015) and Yoshi's Crafted World (2019) — and is the first Yoshi game built on Unreal Engine 5. Previous Good-Feel Yoshi titles used a proprietary craft-themed visual style with handmade material aesthetics. The Mysterious Book moves to a rich, colorful illustrated style that reflects the encyclopaedia book setting — environments look like vibrant illustrated pages come to life in 3D. Unreal Engine 5 provides the rendering capability to display the highly detailed creature designs, environment lighting, and physics interactions that the creature discovery gameplay requires. The 19.6 GB file size reflects the volume of creature and environment content across all chapters of Mr. E's book.
